After six wonderful years as our part time Media Arts teacher, Joseph Long leaves PAA. Dimitra Weinstein, a PAA graduate, will fill his very large shoes.

Mr. Long’s recent accomplishments have kept him busy on the home front. Besides shoveling out of the recent weather, he also welcomed his newest son, Ejvindr Van Ellington, into the world a few days after Christmas! Ejvindr is a lucky boy to have such a loving home.

Joseph will stay plenty busy with his three children, one wife, and a variety of media and film projects, including many with Fly View Aerial.

One of Joseph’s biggest goals is finishing up the short film “Will,” a project he has been creating with a team of Portland filmmakers including his brother Jonny, a 2006 PAA graduate and Executive Producer of the film. The story, written by Joseph, is about a father and son, and is based on the real life Roberts family, a family close to our hearts.

Mr. Long says that PAA will always hold a special place in his heart and he will carry many wonderful memories of working with students as they enthusiastically studied, hands-on, the fundamentals of photography, film, and the creative process in general. Most of all, he says he will miss the vibrant conversations and barrage of questions that filled every class period as they plunged into learning together.

We look forward to Mr. Long’s upcoming projects and cheer him on during his new adventures!
