Lake, river, or ocean?

Becca and I have been discussing the virtues of getting a boat for the lake (her) or ocean (me). In the end, our compromise is that maybe we won't get a boat right now.

Lakes (NE Washington, N Idaho lakes some of the best), Ocean (anything warm/tropical-Hawaii, Florida). Rivers, I'm indifferent.

A boat for the Oregon coast ocean?! Brrrrrrrr! At least with lakes around here you could jump in without a wetsuit comfortably.
