The Secrets of Success

They waved goodbye from the front porch and each proffered a nugget of wisdom as I tried to leave.

"Try not to fail, Daddy!"
my daughter said.

"Just remember Dead Poet's Society!"
my wife said.

"Do a bad job, not a good job, Daddy!"
my son said.

So much useful advice. My head is swimming. If only I can remember it all.

____

I am mortified to admit this, but I must make a public correction: my daughter did not tell me to not fail. What she ACTUALLY said was:

"Try not to get fired, Daddy!"
which is a very different thing.

Mistakes of this magnitude will never* happen again.
